First Day of School &
The Solar Eclipse!
Monday, August 21st, is the first day of school. Students may be dropped off as early as 7:45, but should be in the classrooms ready for class to begin at 8 AM. Primary students must be escorted to the classroom (and the bathroom first!) by a parent. Students coming to HLN during the day for á la carte courses will enter and depart through the single glass door on the S. 6th Street side of the Great House building.

We will be watching the solar eclipse! We will take a break from 1:15 to 1:45 to watch through the peak of the solar eclipse (about 1:30). HLN will provide all students and teachers NASA-approved eclipse glasses. Parents are invited to join us but must bring their own glasses. Learn more about what to expect from NASA’s Eclipse 101 site.

Optional Polos from Lands’ End
HLN has a simple and straightforward dress code which you can review here. All clothing in compliance with the HLN dress code is acceptable.
Completely optional: For those who are interested, we have partnered with Lands’ End School to provide polos (and polo dresses for the younger girls) embroidered with the HLN logo. Polos are about $18 and there’s a $3 discount per shirt if you are orderingthree or more in kids sizes.
Need help? Call them, not us! Call 1-800-469-2222 and reference HLN’s Preferred School Number (900182585) for assistance, 24/7. Not interested? No problem.
