Before You Apply

Applications for prospective families open on March 3, 2026. HLN strongly encourages prospective families to attend Open House in late January and Observation Day in mid-February.

Thank you for your interest in applying to HLN for your child. If you have not already, make sure you have reviewed the following HLN materials and asked any questions you have. After these are reviewed, email the directors with your answers to the questions below and to request an online application. Specify answers by each child if you are interested in applying for more than one child.

Provide answers to the following questions in your email:

  • Are you currently homeschooling? If yes, specify the following:
    • How long have you been homeschooling?
    • What curriculum/curricula do you use? Specify if you use any Memoria Press curriculum and which studies.
    • Do you currently partner with a co-op, tutorial, or online provider(s)? If yes, which one(s)?
  • If you are not currently homeschooling, what school does your child attend?
  • Does your child have any experience with Latin or Classical Studies?
  • If you are changing from full-time schooling or another homeschool tutorial or co-op, what are the primary reasons for this change?
  • If you are considering applying for Kindergarten, First, or Second grade, consult this page for information about age requirements and readiness guidelines.
  • If you are applying for third grade or higher, can your child read cursive writing? Can they write in cursive?
  • Are you friends with any current or former HLN families or teachers? If so, list their names.
  • How did you hear about HLN?
